Singapore Horse racing…many quietly got involved every day. Some spent some time at the Kranji Turf Club, others at the branches around Singapore. It going to be fun, and adventurous too. Some loose and some win. According to my own experience about 30% will win and others lost money and come back disapointed. After around 30years being involved, I found many people quietly declare they lost more than S$1m during their involvement as a punter.
There are other people who did not bet on horses, but they are the owners to the race horses. These are people who can afford to set aside around $30k annually in training bills. I known some friends who used to have owned 20, 30 and 60 horses. Imagine how much money is that. This horse owners take this as a serious business investments. They talk about how much profit they can get from owning these horses. Some horses can earn more than $1M in about 2 years racing in Singapore.
When you see that figure, you may also know that there are horses that won more than $2M or $3M per racing life before retiring. For the record ROCKET MAN is the highest income earner which makes more than $6M of winnings stakes money for its owner.
Lucky? Yes, luck plays important part in this business. Luck can be good and some times it can be hell. But I do believe, that luck is not the only component in horse racing ownership. To get yourself lucky, there are other factors, many in fact. One of the important part of making money or successful investment in horse racing is that who are you connected to? Who is helping and guiding you? In choosing the race horse you should buy, in training the horses you owned, and in managing the whole team you must have. All this and more will bring you nearer to the much waited luck in horse racing.
Surely it takes lots of ups, and downs in getting to know the people in the industry. Some are kind and some are less kinder than others. I have been a race horse owner since 1994. I used to owned 6 horses at once, and failed. Totally was cheated and lucky thing is that I came right back immediately and composed myself. I learned what went wrong, and why. I figured the process of being a profitable owner takes lots of time, lots of learning, lots of efforts, and surely lots of money.
All this going to big circle process and be saved, all this time, and all the money can be saved if you know how to leverage on others. I am a retire businessman, I have long history of family blood line in this industry, my late grand father was a Foreman to Champion trainer Teh Choon Beng. Many relatives and siblings in the industry till today, working with few trainers and happy. And I personally been a racehorse owner and been quiet successful to my standard. I did not spend too much time, efforts and money to be a lucky race horse owner.

How much money do you need to support to upkeep the horse ownership?
Ownership registration and annual fees is about $600/year. Includes the horse racing association annual fee.
Free entry to owner’s enclosure or owner’s stand and free parking during race days at Horse Owners Parking area.
You are also allowed to sign in few registered guest in to the enclosure.
All that for the said fees. I consider this as a very good deal.
Next, the horse.. you have to of course buy a horse, locally raced horse. Race horse owners may want to sell their horse due to few reasons, which normally cost around $30k. Buying a horse is easy.. Let me know if you need more information.
Upkeep of horse is a long term commitment. It can cost around $3k per month. It also depends if your horse needs medical and other health attention.
Good News: As a race horse owner, race performance incentives ($1350) be given to horse owners to offset the cost should your horse did not end up in the last 4 placings of the race it took part in. This incentive is quite attractive.
