26th Nov 2022 – Final race for the year

Singapore race will take a 1 month off after this week’s Saturday races. It is time for the main show participants (the horses) to take a rest from racing. There is more than that happening as the tracks need to be conditioned and probably repair works to be done. The whole Turf Club racing venue building needs some painting work to be done too.

Trainers and management staffs will also work low key and a good temporary off from the fast paced racing in Singapore. This is the best time for horse stables owners to analyze their year performances and replan for the coming year.

There are many of the industry employee and staffs will still have to work as per normal. Among others are Horse groomers, track riders, blacksmith and security personals will be there as good as we needed them to be. It is about the horse and security of the tracks.

HISTORY OF THE SINGAPORE GOLD CUP: Inaugurated in 1924 at the Serangoon Road Race Course at Farrer Park, the Singapore Gold Cup was raced there until 1933, after which it was moved to the new Bukit Timah Race Course. It remained there until 1999 when the Bukit Timah facility was closed, to be replaced with a new Singapore Turf Club situated at Kranji.

The first Singapore Gold Cup held in 1924 at Farrer Park was won by Thelasocrete, who took home the prizemoney of $1,600.

To mark its move from Bukit Timah to Kranji in 1999, Singapore Turf Club raised the prizemoney to $1 million and opened the race to international contenders, but the race returned to domestic status three years later. The residency conditions are specified on the Singapore Turf Club website.

Horse Landed In Singapore on the 11/11/2022

5th Nov 2022 Saturday Race

DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF HORSES AT KRANJI.

Hello and how are you?. Hope you have a great October and wish you all the best for this month of November. We are in the final month of racing in horse racing calendar of Singapore.

We have got once a week racing days since the last few years. Total there are about 50 race days in Singapore. This is far cry from, when it started operation in Kranji. Kranji race track which completed it’s constructions and ready to be operational in March 2000. We had almost 110 days of racing per year as the horses population is much higher during that time. We, the horse racing fans also experience for the first time night racing that was held usually on Wednesday nights.

Currently in Singapore, the total number of horses in training there is about 1000 horses. This is about 500 horses lesser then when we are at the Bukit Turf Club at Bukit Timah.

Most horses are older now (7yrs and more). Young horses population is not growing as it was before. There are many reasons to this. I like to share why..

CAUSES
In my view, some of the few cause that have effected the interest in horse racing could be:

  1. Higher Interest to The Casino.
  2. Old timers have pass on.
  3. Lack of interest from the younger generations.
  4. Lack of local talents in racing as local champion jockey, since J Saimee the Champ was sidelined for many years.
  5. Turf Club is Not making enough money as large amount of bets are done not through the Singapore Turf Club.
  6. and many more.

Some of the cause may be address and some is just unavoidable. Any way those are only my personal view as an observer, a business consultant and an entrepreneur since 1994.

My post are mainly to promote interest to horse ownership and to promote the fun and excitement and interest with the local horse racing industry.

Now let’s see what do I have in this week’s horse racing selection:

EVERYONE CAN WIN, NOW YOUR TIME HAVE COME!
